Henna Body Art Recipe for Gorgeous Tattoos

I have been mixing henna for body art by hand and have tried many combinations of powder and ingredients.
I love the process of playing new powders, testing of formulations and playing in Henna . Now I use a kitchen stand mixer to mix my Henna and body art recipe. I am sharing with you my absolutely favorite henna recipe in this blog
And I step up to get a smooth, creamy and dark staining henna body art recipe for henna tattoo that will last 7-10 days.

Essential ingredients :

  • Fresh body art quality henna powder which is finely chopped. My current favorite body art quality henna powder is our pankhudi triple field henna.
  • Bottled lemon juice, hot water or tea brew. Personally I use 50/50 of distilled water and lemon juice.
  • 100% pure essential oil, such as Eucalyptus globulus, Cajeput or tea tree or lavender.
  • Sugar, preferably dextrose or fructose. I currently use fructose or raw sugar. Those on the West Coast may enjoy trying jaggery for more “wet” stability for dry air there.

Henna powder measuring. Take 2 tablespoons of henna powder (about 25 grams of henna) and place it in a glass or stainless steel bowl. Add 1 teaspoon of sugar of your choice and mix well. Add lemon juice / water / tea brew. Heat your liquid (about 1/4 cup) on the stove and gently add it to your henna powder. Mix well until it forms a thick curd consistency.
Adding essential oil. Then add 1 teaspoon of your essential oil. Mix well Too much liquid? If you add too much liquid then add a little more henna powder to adjust. You can cover your henna paste and allow to sit for 3-4 hours but I do not. I mix my Henna recipe and sometimes let it sit for an hour to relax. Then I make henna paste and store it in carrot bags to store it. I keep the cone and carrot bag in the freezer and use when needed.  Frozen paste will naturally thaw at room temperature. I am a true believer. who freezes henna paste for body art Which gives it a very nice boost in color. Paste test. Should you decide that you want to use your henna paste on the same day, then after sitting for 3-4 hours you can test the paste. If you do not see the recommended results, then you may need to retire every hour after that. Test the paste of henna by applying a little paste on your palm and let it sit for at least 1 minute. Wash and remove the paste if you have a bright orange pumpkin stain indicating that it is ready. be a consistency of thick toothpaste (see photo below). If it feels too fat for you, adjust by gradually adding more liquid.

Additional Tips:

  • Straining your henna paste makes it extra smooth. You can take it in a large wide-mouth cup and put a carrot bag inside. Then place a cheap nylon stocking inside it. Make sure that both the carrot bag and nylon stocking bend around the edges of the cup for easy spread. You will then add Henna paste to the opening of the stocking and pull the stocking through the carrot bag. In this way, henna paste is forced to come into the carrot bag through nylon stocking. It will be extremely smooth and you get a feel for your fine tips or cones. Also good about this method is that, once the henna paste is in a carrot bag, you can easily use all your applicants to store or store them directly in the freezer for later use. Henna paste can be kept in freeze for up to 12 months.
